Weekend Events at the Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge

The Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge is one of the gems of the great outdoors in North Carolina. This weekend they're having two special events open to the general public.

On Friday, April 25th they are going to have a Peruvian guide to the Amazon speak at the refuge. The following day, on Saturday the 26th, there will be bird walks led by Bob Kluttz and Bill Stone. Call the Pee Dee refuge (704-694-4424) for more information on these events.

While you're at the refuge, check out the numerous opportunities for fishing, hunting, and hiking. The Pee Dee Refuge is fortunate to be located in an idyllic county filled with all sorts of recreational activities for those interested in the outdoors.

Wayman Ussery Memorial Bass Tournament

Bass fishermen take note of this upcoming tournament in the Central Park.

The Wayman Ussery Memorial Bass Tournament will take place on Lake Tillery on Saturday, April 19th at 7am. Boats can launch anywhere on Lake Tillery but must report to Cook's Marina to register and receive their competition number and live well inspection tag. Entry fee is $60 per boat.

For more information on prizes and registration contact Sherrill Bumgarner at 910-576-2811 or 910-572-2949.

Best of luck to the participants, we'll try and get our hands on a picture of the winners.
