If you will be anywhere near Asheboro this summer then a trip to Richland Creek Zip Line would be well worth your time.
Zip lines, for those who have not experienced them, are metal cables stretched on an incline with an attached pulley that allows the user to glide across an expanse without touching the ground. There are different levels of zip lines, some are geared more towards adult adventurers and others are more suitable for children. The Richland Creek lines were designed for use by families with children (although there is a minimum weight of 60 lbs.)
Plan ahead because it takes two hours (!) to finish the entire course. Sounds like a lot of fun - check out this video of a TV news story about a similar zip line in Stokes County. The video emphasized for me how safe the zip lines appear to be, and how fun they can be (I don't know if my description did it justice.)
Pay a visit to the Richland Zip Line website for pictures and more.
